ON A MISSION TO SAVE LIVES THROUGH EXTRICATION
Transportation Emergency Rescue Committee (TERC), established in1987, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to equipping today’s rescuers with the skills and knowledge necessary to face tomorrow’s challenges. TERC operates with a dual focus: educating the general public and providing specialized training to emergency medical, fire service, and law enforcement professionals.
Public Education: Prevention First
TERC emphasizes accident prevention by educating the public on safety methods. By raising awareness and promoting proactive measures, the organization aims to reduce the likelihood of emergencies before they occur.
Professional Training: Beyond Prevention
Supported by Community and Corporate Sponsors
TERC’s work is made possible by the dedication of volunteers, corporate sponsorships, and donations. These contributions allow the organization to subsidize training costs, ensuring accessible and effective preparation for emergency responders.
Professional Training: Beyond Prevention
Recognizing that not all incidents can be prevented, TERC focuses on preparation. Experienced and retired industry experts volunteer their time to train emergency responders in innovative techniques and the use of advanced equipment. These efforts are complemented through realistic competitions designed to hone skills, all guided by NFPA 1670 standards and exceeding Florida’s Fire Service Instructor requirements.
Collaborative Efforts
Terc’s mission is strengthened through partnerships, including collaboration with the World Rescue Organization (WRO). This international alliance promotes awareness of new vehicle hazards, helping reduce risks to both patients and rescuers.
